Hi Everyone! How have you been?
Last couple of weeks, I was working on ATCs for the first time >;)
(Technically, I have done some commission ATCs at Comikaze but I didn't know at that time... So it doesn't count ;q)
Anyhow, my friend Jill is throwing this awesome group show, "the ACEO art," ACEO stands for Art Cards Editions and Originals. Basically instead of trading, all the artist are selling their cards!
I'm super happy to be a part of this exhibit!
When Jill invited me to this event, I was excited but nervous at the same time because there are more than 30 artist participating to the exhibit..
So I wanted to make something special, and represent my style.
I could't really find a way to work with cloth on a little trading card as if I would to a canvas...
But I didn't want to just settle on all ink drawings..
How about trying a totally new material? like watercolors? you know?
I always wanted to play with watercolors anyways, so yea.. I decided to give a shot with this project ;q
And here are some rough sketches with outlines on the cards..
The one unusual thing I did with this project was I sketched out directly on the final piece..
Kinda made me nervous, but it turned out okay ;))
Can you tell which one of them I decided to go for watercolors?
The two in the back!
Working with watercolors was quick and fun! but more intense in a way.. because they are less forgiven..
I definitely want to play more though! ;q
and here are the rest of the cards. ink drawing with cut outs ;)))
I always thought bigger pieces are funner to work on, but I have to take that back!
Small pieces are also fun and fun!!! ;))))
Oh, I almost forgot!
The ACEO Art is opening on second Saturday, a week from now at JKLM Nterprises!
It's located on the second floor of Art House Gallery and Studios, 10th and R st. in downtown Sacramento.
If you are in the area, come see me ;)) I will be there 4pm till 9pm on Saturday!
Wooooo I can't wait to see what other artists have made!!!!
